## Key facts

- Typical payment: 200 - 600 GBP by bank transfer
- Vehicles bought: Panel vans, tippers, dropsides, Lutons, pickups, crew cabs, minibuses up to 3.5t
- Condition: Non-runners, seized engines, accident and fire damage all bought
- Collection: Free, anywhere in Scotland, usually 1-3 working days
- Fleet clearances: Multi-vehicle runs on one transporter with a single payment
- Paperwork: Certificate of Destruction issued, DVLA notified by us

Vans are usually worth more than cars for the simple reason that they weigh more. A long-wheelbase Transit carries roughly twice the steel of a supermini, and commercial vehicles are far more likely to have reusable running gear still on them when they come off the road.
We buy every light commercial: panel vans, tippers, dropsides, Lutons, crew cabs, pickups and minibuses, running or not, MOT'd or not, insurance write-off or worn out.

## What we take

If it has a chassis and a VIN we will quote for it. There is no commercial surcharge and no charge for a van that has been standing for years.

- Panel vans - Transit, Transit Custom, Vivaro, Trafic, Sprinter, Crafter, Boxer, Ducato, Berlingo, Combo, Caddy
- Tippers, dropsides and Luton box vans, including ones with the body removed
- Pickups and crew cabs - Hilux, Navara, L200, Ranger, Amarok
- Minibuses and welfare vans up to 3.5 tonnes
- Ex-fleet and ex-lease vehicles with the signwriting still on
- Non-runners, seized engines, blown gearboxes, accident damage and fire damage

## Why van prices are higher

Three things push a van above the equivalent car. It is heavier, so the shell alone is worth more. It usually carries a larger catalytic converter or DPF. And commercial parts hold their value: doors, tailgates, axles, gearboxes and injectors from a common Transit or Sprinter are in constant demand.
That is also why we ask whether the vehicle is complete. A van missing its cat, wheels or engine is still worth buying, but the quote reflects it.

## Fleet and multi-vehicle collections

If you are clearing more than one vehicle we will schedule a single transporter run rather than separate visits, which usually means a faster turnaround and one consolidated payment. Builders' yards, plant hire firms, councils and lease companies all use us this way.
Tell us the number of vehicles, the site access and whether anything needs winching and we will plan the right vehicle for the job.

## Paperwork on a commercial vehicle

It is the same as a car with one addition: if the van is still on a finance or lease agreement, that has to be settled before it can be scrapped. We check the registration and will tell you if anything is outstanding.
You get a Certificate of Destruction from our SEPA licensed facility and the DVLA record is closed, which stops any further tax, insurance or penalty liability landing on your business.

## Typical light commercial weights - the main driver of scrap value

| Vehicle | Examples | Kerb weight (approx) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Small van | Berlingo, Combo, Caddy, Kangoo | 1,200 - 1,450 kg |
| Mid-size panel van | Transit Custom, Vivaro, Trafic | 1,700 - 2,000 kg |
| Large panel van | Transit LWB, Sprinter, Crafter, Boxer | 2,000 - 2,400 kg |
| Tipper / dropside | Transit tipper, Iveco Daily | 2,100 - 2,600 kg |
| Pickup / crew cab | Hilux, Navara, L200, Ranger | 1,850 - 2,300 kg |

## Questions about scrap a van

### Do you pay more for a van than a car?

Usually yes. Vans are heavier and carry more reusable parts, and both feed directly into the price. A large panel van will normally beat a family car of the same age and condition.

### Will you collect a van that has not moved in years?

Yes. Flat tyres, seized brakes, no battery and no keys are all normal for us. Tell us when you book so the driver brings winching equipment.

### Can you collect several vans at once?

Yes. Multi-vehicle collections are scheduled on one transporter run with a single consolidated payment. We regularly clear builders' yards and ex-fleet sites.

### My van still has the company signwriting on it. Is that a problem?

No. The vehicle is destroyed at our facility, so the livery goes with it. If you would rather remove it first that is entirely up to you.

### The van is still on finance. Can I scrap it?

Not until the agreement is settled - the finance company remains the legal owner. Clear the balance first, then we can proceed as normal.

### Do I need to remove signwriting or vinyl wrap before collection?

No. Livery, vinyl and roof racks make no difference to the scrap value and we remove and destroy branded panels as part of processing, so your business name never ends up back on the road.

### Can you scrap a van that is still on a lease or finance agreement?

Not while finance is registered against it. Settle the agreement or get written release from the finance company, then we can buy it in the normal way.

### Do you buy Luton and box vans with a tail lift?

Yes, and they usually price well because of the extra steel and the recoverable tail lift hydraulics. Give us the body type on the call so the right transporter is sent.
