    SCRAP A CAR SCOTLAND

    Terms

The terms that apply to our quotes, collections and payments.

These terms apply to all vehicle purchases and collections carried out by Scrap A Car Scotland, Strathore Road, Thornton, KY1 4DF, operating as an Authorised Treatment Facility under SEPA licence WCR/R/1137358.

    1. Quotations

Quotes are based on the information you provide about the vehicle, including make, model, year, condition and whether major components such as the engine, gearbox, wheels and catalytic converter are present. A quote is valid for 7 days unless stated otherwise.

If the vehicle on collection differs materially from the description, we may revise or withdraw the offer. You are under no obligation to accept a revised offer.

    2. Ownership and authority

By accepting a quote you confirm you are the legal owner of the vehicle or are authorised to sell it, and that it is free from outstanding finance, hire purchase, lease agreements and any other third-party interest.

    3. Identification

Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 we must verify the seller's identity. Photo ID and proof of address matching the payment account are required at collection. We cannot complete a purchase without it.

    4. Collection

Collection is free within our published coverage area. Time slots are estimates and may be affected by traffic, weather or route changes. You must ensure safe and lawful access to the vehicle, including any permits, gate keys or parking suspensions required.

Remove all personal belongings and private registration marks before collection. We accept no liability for items left in a vehicle once it has been collected.

    5. Payment

Payment is made by bank transfer, normally on the day of collection once paperwork is signed. We do not pay cash for scrap vehicles, as prohibited by law. It is your responsibility to supply correct bank details.

    6. DVLA notification and Certificate of Destruction

We notify the DVLA of the disposal and issue a Certificate of Destruction where the vehicle is destroyed. Any refund of vehicle tax is issued by the DVLA to the registered keeper and is outside our control.

    7. Cancellation

You may cancel a booked collection at any time before the vehicle is loaded, at no cost. We may cancel where the vehicle cannot be accessed safely, the required documents or ID are not available, or the description was inaccurate.

    8. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud. Otherwise our liability in connection with any vehicle purchase is limited to the agreed purchase price.

    9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland and subject to the Scottish courts.
